WAOA: A Tale Of A General

-A portal opens in the middle of nowhere. A rover moves through and looks around for a few seconds. This is followed by a man in CADPAT gear, who doesn't look older than 21, weirdly. He looks around, hefting his SCAR-A1 assault rifle.-

General Scott Mitchell: Well... not sure where we are, but the air's breathable. -reaches for radio- This is Mitch, we're A-okay. The rover's not lying, we've got an inhabitable environment here. Let's get our stuff through.

(OoC: Unlike the last RP I started, anyone can join.)

Following Mitch was an adult fairy in the air. Her hair was a light blue, and her wings were icicles.

"Of course we are, Mitchy!" She lands on the ground and walks up to him.

Mitch took a moment to snuggle up with Cirno. They'd been together for lord knows how long. It was at this point he let his electric yellow wings go. He was a fairy too - he had changed himself, for Cirno's sake, thanks to a certain mage. The SCAR was forgotten about as Mitch looked around at the area.

"So... we've landed in a forest?" came a voice behind him. It was a recognizable voice. The voice of John Malivich, one of the JSF's soldiers. Mitch didn't even need to turn his head. "Wherever it is, it's better than a grey bunker."

"What about someone being in a grey bunk??" She winks at Mitch for the turns her head. "Oh, hey, how's it going?"

((Would she know all of Mitch's associates? Your call.))

(OoC: Yes.)

John smiled. "I see you two are enjoying a romantic moment, huh?"

Mitch's reply was fast. "More like a reprieve, after being stuck in a bunker for the past two years. This whole portal thing is the only reason at all that I didn't go stir-crazy. That and Cirno."

John stepped up with them, grip tight on his SCAR-A1 as well. "It's a nice forest..." Mitch nodded and let go of Cirno. "Sorry Cirno, but everyone else is hanging on a thread in there. Hate to keep them waiting." He unclipped the radio. "This is the General. If you want to come through, then come on through." The three moved to the side as several people emerged.

John then looked at Cirno. "It's been going fine. Have to say, it's a pretty nice break, all these blue skies." The rover silently moved off.

"I couldn't agree more. So beautiful... Anyway, let's get going then." She created a pair of ice spears, prepared to go, and followed when prompted.

With that, a small command squad of soldiers formed up. The General, Cirno, John, and three other soldiers. All armed with SCAR-A1s carrying grenade launchers, though Mitch's A1 carried an ACOG gunsight instead of the holographic sights that the others used.

Mitch took a moment to steady himself. "Alright, any of you see anything, report it to me. If it's hostile..." He made electricity sparkle from his hand for a second, to prove a point. "Let me KO the f'er. If it absolutely comes down to it, fire on my mark. Now, let's get going and see if we can find anything interesting. As for the rest of you who aren't part of the scout party, make a firebase."

Mitch, and then the rest of the soldiers, began to move out.

"Understood." She flapped her icy wings and took to the air, ready to go in general, then took off. Now, let's see...

She could see multiple soldiers, although which ones were hostile were another story. The problem was that she couldn't hear them all too well...

The squad continued to move in the forest, marking off a perimeter. Then they hit a clearing. Immediately, Mitch ordered Cirno down and looked through binoculars. "Nothing in the field."

"Then either it's optic cloaked, or it's not there at all."

Mitch picked up his rifle and advanced into the field. "Let's hope that it's not the former."

"I saw a few soldiers... but couldn't understand them." She landed on the ground and dispersed her weapons. "Although... they didn't notice me either, so I never got shot at." Cirno shrugged.

Mitch sighed, and the rest of the team headed back into cover. He turned to Cirno. "Where are they and what direction are they in?"

"Back where we came from. In the North, I think. I could show you the way?" I'm not good at this...

Mitch nodded. "Thanks Cirno."

He unclipped the radio. "Mitch to firebase, we've got unidentified contacts that are apparently to the North. I'll keep you posted as we get more info, over."

The response was quick. "Roger that General, we'll be stationing a man by the radio to keep up with you. Over and out."

Mitch nodded. "Over and out." He turned to Cirno and clipped the radio onto him. "Alright... show us where they are."

Cirno took to the air. "This way!" She began to fly there.

The squad continued to follow Cirno. It was difficult, but Mitch could easily see Cirno, and was easily able to follow. The rest of the team defaulted to following Mitch.

"Damn... I thought we'd be getting a break." John looked at Mitch. "Johnny boy... just be glad it's only a group, not an entire army." John nodded. "You've a point there. We're only facing a small squad. Besides, you're an electric fairy, if worst comes to worst you can just zap them and hopefully they'll get knocked out."

Mitch continued onwards, with his SCAR raised. "Hopefully..."

The random Soldiers simply discussed... their food choices.

Cirno nodded her head and landed far away from them. "That's them..."

Mitch looked through the binoculars. "They don't look hostile... at least, not outwardly."

John sidled up. "That's good. If we had ran into these guys bad things coulda happened." He looked over to Cirno. "Thanks."

Mitch continued to stare through binoculars, then unclipped the radio. "Mitch to firebase, it doesn't look like the soldiers are hostile, but they're still bogeys. Not sure of their intentions yet. Over and out."

"Roger that Mitch, we've stepped up the alert. The portal's going to remain open for a long time. Over and out.

Mitch then thought. "Now what are we going to do here? Not like we can just jump in."

"I suggest more intel gathering." One of the soldiers had piped up. "Such as, what guns are they carrying?"

Mitch picked up the binocs. "Give me a second."

The generic Soldiers are all holding regular issued rifles. ((Like I know my guns...))

Cirno makes binoculars... with her hands, because she's that wierd. :P

"Not sure... they look like M4A1s though."

John smiled at Cirno making binoculars with her hands, then turned to Mitch. "M4s? Those things are outdated shit. Compared to the SCARs we have." Mitch waved him off. "Yeah, yeah. Not sure what they're talking about. Alright, I marked their position on the minimap. Let's get back to the firebase, people. Double-time."

With that, the squad got up and began to walk back to the firebase, Mitch slinging his SCAR.

Cirno nodded her head and floated right above Mitch. "Okay!"

Mitch looked up to Cirno. "Well, it's been a fun day. We walk into a forest, finding out we aren't alone, and then deciding to leave them for now. A fun day compared to the stuff we endured in the bunker for two years straight." Mitch continued his hike.

"True..." She landed on Mitch's shoulders and grinned. "What's next then?"

Mitch was stronger than the av-er-age bear, so he was easily able to carry Cirno... after bending a few times. "Back to the fire-base, I suppose. We'll make a plan to deal with these soldiers, whether lethally or non-lethally, after that... I don't know." He carried Cirno on his shoulders with relative ease. But it wasn't as easy as it looked.

"Let's hope we can do that non-lethaly." She moved backwards, trying to bring them both to the ground. "So... tonight?"

Mitch smiled up as he deftly countered Cirno's attempt to bring them down. Though he had to admit, she almost got him. "I don't see why not. We're operating out of the bunker and the fire-base, and I think I'd like to sleep inside at least one more day before moving out here. We don't even know what kinds of bugs are out here."

They then ventured on the firebase. The solitary tank there - a lone M5A2 Schwarzkopf - stood on guard, flanked by a few M118 Fastback APCs. No helicopters yet. The firebase itself had set up sandbag walls, machine-gun positions, and it all surrounded the portal to the bunker.

"Home sweet home." Mitch muttered. John looked. "I couldn't agree with you more."
