    First topic message reminder :

Hey, let's talk about games! What games does everyone like?

Me, I like pretty much every kind of video game except for sports and most racing games (I do like Mario Kart). For other kinds of games, I like pretty much everything. Board games, card games, tabletop RPGs, everything. I can't really afford miniatures games, though.

Some of my favorite video game series are Kirby, Sonic (I miss the old days), Fire Emblem, Command & Conquer (Red Alert especially), No More Heroes, _____ vs. Capcom (and Capcom vs. SNK), Pokemon, Super Robot Wars, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, and Ace Attorney.

Some of my favorite traditional games are Yu-Gi-Oh, Magi Nation Duel, Arkham Horror, 7th Sea, Mutant City Blues, Munchkin, Maid RPG, Toon, and RIFTS.

By the way, how would people feel about a Maid RPG PbP? I can teach and run it.

There are several Maid RPG sessions being run on TVTropes. It is a very popular system there.

Unless a maid rpg is about playing as a Maid, I got no clue what it is.

Actually, one of my DMs changed my current stats so I'd have more wisdom, when considering my Warforge only half heals itself, extra spells aren't that needed. I need the intelligience for my skills, which are a lot more useful for a Priest. Ugh, don't like that class. Clerics are much better.

I think it was a made-up class from the DM. It's basically the healing version of the Dragon Shaman, except the class really sucks. Even the low-level monks are better. It's horribly underpowered overall. Would rather play a Bard than it.

Yeah, that sounds stupid. If it sucks and is made up, why play it?

Of course, I am a powergamer that plays support almost every time. I think that is the best powergamer, because I get to heal the party much easier. Like me making a completely Dungeons and Dragons book legal item that lets you cast Cure Light Wounds as a standard action as many times as you want.

Nice. Does it have a daily limit, though?

And yeah, that's why I like the Dragon Shaman. Especially with the feat to have two Auras up at once. Honestly, the class is great for support in general. And using Fire combined with a Frost Scimitar and Shock Scimitar makes dispatching Undead(DM was a fan of Skeletons, oy) much easier.

No daily limit. Just reading the Creating Magic Items section in the DMG and looking at the Estimating Magic Item Gold Piece Values table, making an Activated or Continuous magic item is 2000g * Spell Level * Caster Level.

Thus, a Cure Light Wounds spell cast by a first level caster is a 2000 gold piece item, with no limits, other than it has to be use activated.

IMO, I'd prefer it to be need a key word or something, since the item is ridiculously cheap. Free healing(in the end) is pretty powerful.

It's the Hackmaster in me, talking. No matter how overpowered we are, without a cleric, we're toast. It's the most important class to have on a team, honestly. We once had a Fighter(my brother), a Cleric(myself, that's Parrothead that I mentioned in the WAOA Discussion thread on TVTropes), and a Cleric/Fighter. I could heal much better, but I couldn't fight very well. 12 strength doesn't do much for hitting in Hack.

The command word version costs 1,800 gold instead. And it is in the rules, the actual rules, so it isn't like I just made up some random number, I am using the chart that Wizards of the Coast gave me.

And I agree, hense the fact I almost always play support somehow. Or at least have an Item of Healing, so I don't have to play a class with spells, because I hate working with spells per day and preparing and all that stuff. Though the Divine Bard from Unearthed Arcana is pretty good.

Haven't read that entry. I almost always play Clerics because I'm terrible at being a leader.

I work with Spells Per Day or Spells Points. Either work, honestly. Even more broken in Pathfinder. I mean, infinite water basically? Although they very much balanced out Cure Minor Wounds, thankfully.

Also, nobody else usually plays a Cleric, so I'm stuck with it. My last cleric was a Rogue/Cleric Kobold. Despite his poor strength of 4(justified, since you know, he's more Dex and Wisdom based), he was quite fun to play with. He couldn't hit for much, at all, but he could move fast enough and such.

I like Healers more than Clerics. Spontanious casting, plus bonus healing based on CHA and then a Unicorn mount plus various healing abilities once per day, except at 20th level where you get True Res once per week for free.

Eh, I think every DM I've had banned their use, for obvious reasons, I.E. what you just stated. That, and I'm Clerical Bitch when it comes to using them. Even if they almost always die on me.

I mean, True Res for free? Ouch.

At 20th level once per week. We never really play that high of level, and I am generally the only one with heals in what is often a part of 6 if not 8. So really, we need all the healing we can get. Besides, the Dm has a crush on me, as his fiance is apt to tell me in front of him and everyone so he will turn bright red. It is funny.

Ah, I get what you're saying. Taking advantage of the DM, heh. Doesn't work too well for me. And not because I'm male, really.

True, in only one game did we go Epic. I was playing a fairly balanced class based off of the Spellcasters on Shining Force II. Though really, 10 MP to heal 300 to everyone in range? What the eff? Oh, and she gained 5 MP back per turn... Of course, she was attacked quickly, but hey, why wouldn't they?

Considering everything I play and do is completely legal, I don't mix types of Role Playing games at all, and I still make powerful characters, and I forget how I was going to end it. I think part of the reason I can do this stuff is because I'm literally the only person in any campain to play suport, and we literally have a group so large that any more people, we will be splitting the party...

Yeah, I don't play with big groups anymore. Honestly, 4th Edition is kind of boring in some ways. Everybody can heal? Great, just great.

And I don't mind original classes or ones based off of other games. I'm one who loves mixing and matching, but that's just me. I also tend to avoid powergaming myself.

We don't like 4th ed, and I expecially don't, because of the lack of creativity involved. I mean, if you are a warlock, you are a warlock, no matter how what pact you choose, it is all pretty much just flavor.

In 3rd ed, warlocks had prestige classes that other classes could have, or were fun, and heck, you could even be a melee warlock, with the feat that allowed you medium armor, plus the invocation that allowed you to do your warlock damage as a melee attack with a regular weapon.

And I had mix and matching, because... well, just a pet peave of mine. I hate the idea of using non RPGA legal things.

Though I find if funny that Warshapers are RPGA legal. I like the story where the guy had a warshaper and it was his turn so he walked up to the monster and went "Okay, I kill the monster" and the DM was like "What?" and then he showed him the part in the class where he can get literally infinite attacks.

It is legal because it is in the Complete Warrior, thus a WotC made and approved book, and they worded the ability in a way that didn't have a limit on how many natural weapons he could have made at any one time.

I check with the DM first before play a warshaper, though. James gets a little twitch when I say I want to play that or a warlock. Or a Warlock/Warshaper.

I don't play any character unless I double check if it is okay by the DM, though I often get an I Trust You, since I absolutely never break the rules, just make really powerful characters using the 3.5 rules writen in WotC books.

Ha, that is pretty bad, but if you mix and match rules...

I, more often than not, know the rules better than the DM, but I almost never bring up a mistake in game, perfering to talk to the DM after game about it. I hate Rules Loyering, and I believe that the DMs ruling is Law, and if you want to argue it, argue after game where it doesn't last 20 minutes and distrupt what we are doing.
