@Lem: ...Wait. You think Terezi is smug, and yet Vriska doesn't bother you?

Personally, I always liked Terezi a lot more because she never needed powers to do anything. Even Vriska envied her for that. But at least I'm getting the idea that I was wrong about people not liking/acknowledging her more human side. That does clear a lot of things up.

...What about Karkat? Or Sollux? Or Aradia? Or Kanaya?

Fuck, what about Dave? Or Jade? Or the Exiles?

Anybody remember those characters exist? At all?

^^ Yes, because Terezi is never wrong (well, except for about Gamzee). She just keeps on landing boyfriends, smelling colours and being "lovably quirky" while never meeting any real obstacles.

^ Karkat was cool when he took control when things were going down the drain. Now he's just shaking in his boots and running from people that want to kill him. Sollux hasn't done anything productive since losing his girlfriend. Aradia never interested me much to start with and neither did Kanaya.

Dave might be promising, but he'll still be satisfied by being lead around by the hand by Terezi and Jade is too busy doing exposition in the dreambubbles. As for the Exiles...maybe. If they'd show up for more than three posts of a time.

Terezi's been wrong before. Remember how she got John killed? Thought she could actually effect a useful change by killing him off. How'd that work out? A doomed timeline. Plus, she's still blaming Vriska for Nepeta's death.

And last I checked, the last thing Karkat was trying to do was get shit under control by making sure everybody was informed that there were killer clowns and shit in the asteroid. Hard to keep one's cool when people like Vriska, Eridan, and Gamzee go apeshit on everybody.

As for everybody else, they're only useless fucks because...

Well, when has the storyline actually paid attention to them?

It hasn't. It's been primarily favoring John, Rose, Terezi, and Vriska, so...

...don't you mean Dave? Or am I forgetting something?

Honestly, I've always seen Terezi's obsessive rivalry with Vriska as a bad, unhealthy thing overall. The Gamzee thing was just what pretty much made it explicit. But that's just my opinon. Raidou's got more clear cut examples. And yeah, it was definitely John that she got killed.

Oh, now I remember. Back then, yeah.

...wait, then she got two humans into doomed timelines. Damn, then I'm sure I'll never root for her.

Just so I can leave a lasting imprint/reminder...

And I don't care if you root for Terezi. I was just noting that there's other people in this comic then John and Terezi and Vriska and Jack and Doc Scratch.

And now, I'd like a moment of silence for for the death of one of the greatest characters ever...

Then again I've never really liked trying to analyze why I like something. ::::/

Yeah, it is stupid. Very, very stupid. Really, it's just a silly webcomic, who even cares. Most of the trolls are insane to some degree anyways, and I know I give the leather pants treatment to Terezi. But I do feel better for having talked about this.

I still can't believe that Hussie killed my favorite character so... offhandedly.

...Really? Because pretty much every troll death so far has been undignified, anticlimactic, or both. Just be glad he didn't treat is as a joke like he did with Feferi, Equius, or Tavros.

Well, so far, every single dead Troll has succumbed to their own crippling character flaws. Their deaths were as much suicide as homicide.

Tavros-After an entire webcomic's worth of being the butt monkey, he still couldn't muster up an ounce of confidence that might have led to him having some badassery going on.

Equiuus-The most obvious one, since his own total submission is what allowed Gamzee to kill him. Not so STRONG after all.

Vriska-Never got the memo that she was only a supporting character.

Feferi-After a lifetime of making excuses and trying to help the biggest jerk beneath the waves, he kills her. So much for her new ideas about "culling".

Eridan-Such an enormous tool that he was unable to see the good in anything, not even himself. So he instead tried to be totally evil and ruin things for everyone else.

Nepeta-Much like Vriska, she overestimated her importance in the story. She even wanted to be the Main Troll's love interest. She might have only thought of herself as a supporting character, but she failed to realize just how low on the totem pole she was. She was so low that we still don't know what either the Rogue or Heart descriptors do.

I'm not sure exactly how "being a supportive character" is a character flaw. :|

No, Nepeta's flaw was that Hussie made it so she never did anything important in the story. Meaning she was supposed to be a joke character, from beginning to end, and so she wasn't allowed any form of dignity from the Hussmaster. Not even in death.

Meaning her death wasn't because of her flaws. It's because the story demanded it.

And Vriska's flaw was suicidal overconfidence. Durr.

...Also, part of the reason that Tavros was such a wimp was because Vriska bullied the shit out of him, expecting him to get stronger from adversity, when it ended up mostly crippling him physically and emotionally.

Of course, that's what we're to assume from what we've seen. I dunno, maybe he was a massive wimp even before FLARP got to him.

Also, the explanation of Feferi's "flaws" lacks the obvious point that she was Eridan's moirail, and that she knew that he was a massive tool that needed looking after, and that her attempts to find comfort in the form of Sollux were ultimately selfish, even if it was true that Eridan was becoming completely intolerable, even by his usual standards.

And technically Nepeta's "flaw" was being too weak, just like Tavros. Sucks that his one confident moment was also a really stupid thing to do.

I see a very slim possibility that Vriska will get up because she didn't actually die a heroic/just death, protect Kanaya/Terezi from Gamzee, and THEN die.
