Mysteries of the Arcane Ruin

The year is 1620 in the world of Rylant, where myth and magic reign supreme. For as long as people can remember, it's two huge continents with the Elves, humans, Dwarfs...all of the races living on the south Triarria with little idea on what lays on the Northern Continent.

Some say dragons. Others say an unspeakable evil waiting to move forth and conquer the world and a fair few see it as a possible paradise as the only consistent factor between these rumors is that none have returned alive.

Until now. A weary traveler returning from the Northern Continent has taken refuge in the town of Yendel. Rumors soon spread across the world of the one who knew the way into what mysteries laid in wait to the North. Incredible riches, powerful magical artifacts, things the world has never seen drew many to this traveler, yet none of them had never returned.

In any case, all of you arrive at the town of Yendel after hearing the rumor, each of you here for your own reasons. The question is...what will you do first?

Roland squinted. There was a group of people there...

He wondered briefly if he should go over to them. He decided that he might as well, and walked over.

Bradman walks over to the stall and looks over the items.

Aurora takes a closer look at the wands.

Kris starts looking through the books for something of potential use.

The clerk, a middle-aged woman with slightly greying hair and brown eyes glances at Aurora, managing the Wand stall. Each one seems to be made fairly well to enchance magical abilities, while others possess powers of their own which would have several 'charges' before being rendered useless.

"Anything thing in particular you're looking for, dear?"

Each of the items of cricket gear looks like it's been expertly made and will last a very long time, while the owner, a stout and gruff looking dwarf watches with a cautious eye.

While the cloaked figure glances at Roland, looking a little surprised.

"...Can I help you?"

"Uh... where, exactly, am I?"

"How much for the bat and a few balls?"

"Do you have any wands that amplify Ice-based Magic?"

The Cloaked figure shrugged and stretched.

"Yendel. And I'm guessing you're as confused as I am, I take it?"

"...About 20 gold all up, lad. No-one seems to want this stuff. They can't appreciate the art it represents."

Kris...wouldn't be able to tell whether these are actually magical tomes or just simple books.

"Ice based magic, you say, dear? ...Well, let's see..." the woman remarks, searching through her wares, lightly pressing each wand before holding up a simple, sleek oak wooden one inset with a sapphire. "This would certainly do the trick..."

"Yeah. I am confused as all hell, why'd you ask?"

Roland didn't have a hint of hostility. He was more... bewildered than anything else.

"Hmmm... how much for that one, then?"

"Alright. I'll take it."

"Hmm... How much for a book?"

"A magical wand this rare, dear? Well, I suppose I haven't had a sale for a while...so I'll let it go for 18 gold." the woman nods.

The Dwarf nods and hands over the bat/ball polish, several cricket balls and a set of gloves.

"Someone who appreciates true art. Take care of it."

"Oh, we're somewhat in the same boat, really. I've been here for about a month now and I'm STILL getting used to thinks being so...primitive."

The salesman tilts his head, eyes blinking.

"Ten gold piecessssss each."

"Yeah, well... I came here via the New-U. If you wanna come back with me, go ahead. Just be warned... Pandora ain't a nice place."

"Oh, I'll take it." :D

Aurora hands over 18 gold.

"Well, we had a ground in the forest....and it has other uses"

Bradman hands over the money.

"I'll take two."

Kris pulls out 20 gp, hoping he'll get lucky.

Giving a nod of acknowledgement as he takes Bradman's payment of gold, the dwarf sighs.

"Aye. A pity those days have long since passed, it'd seem."

"Very well, dear. Take care of it. I hope it brings you good fortune." the middle-aged woman smiles, handing over the wand.

The cloaked figure shrugs.

"I'll pass on that. If I'm getting home...I have a good feeling it'll be in the Northern Continent. Makes sense, really."

Swiftly taking Kris's gold, the man hands over two dusty books. One seems a fair bit heavier than the other, however.

Aurora takes the Wand, then heads over to the local Blacksmith in order to purchase a normal, cheap, run-of-the-mill Iron dagger.

"Everything goes in cycles, mate. What's passed now will come back eventuall."

With that, he leaves the stall.

Kris doesn't comment on it, but just takes the books, before looking around for another stall.

[Aurora can add a Wand of Frost to her inventory. While she has this equipped, Ice Based spells get a +2 to their DC and a +1 to damage rolls. Bradman can add 5 cricket balls (1d4 if thrown, 1d10 if they're thrown up in the air and hit with the bat at a target. 30ft range.) cricket polish and cricket gloves. Kris can add two tomes to his gear.]

The cloaked figure blinks in surprise.

"...Looks like we're going to the armory now...?"

"Aye. Best of luck."

Roland nods. "Ah. You got a name?"
