    First topic message reminder :

    May 23, Space Calendar 0111

    Combat between the forces of the PDF and Republic of Gori has been ongoing for nearly four months. However, today, a new threat is due to appear. Into the scene enter three pilots with the PDF, on a routine survey mission.

    Prologue: But, I'm not a pilot!

    Aboard the Arcana, in the briefing room:

    Captain Moses Hikari: "Okay, our intel reports that some Gori troops should be in the area. There's a small town nearby, though, so try to avoid collateral damage."

    The captain looks pointedly at the gynoid sitting to his right, knowing fully that her mech is primarily built for heavy artillery bombardment.

    "Now, seeing as how two of the... *looks irritated at the low number* three pilots assigned to this ship haven't seen any real combat before, I'll take a few minutes to make sure everyone is clear on standard operating procedure and their specific orders."

    He falls silent and looks across the table.


    Meanwhile, in the aforementioned small town, a young man is hanging about his room when he notices an unfamiliar object, a small golden cylinder...

    Lee simply gave a small smirk as his suit took flight effortlessly. The controls weren't exactly what he was expecting as they seemed a bit...laggy, but he simply made adjustments and made up for this short-coming by thinking ahead.

    Lee didn't exactly enjoy the idea that he was merely being a scout...but considering he seemed to be the only real suit capable of flight...and this fast, he reluctantly agreed.

    The cry of "hurry" was entirely appropriate, as a countdown had then appeared on the odd device. Kyoko wheels her motorcycle out of the garage and tosses you her spare helmet. This isn't the first time you'd ridden with her. She motions for you to hop on the bike behind her. You already know how to grab on, seeing as how the last time you tried something, she rose your voice by an octave for a week.

    Only the ID System enables Lee to evade the bazooka shell as it sails past him and explodes. Seven Gaki II Humanoid Frames reveal themselves among the trees.

    TUTORIAL: Rolling Initiative: Roll 1d10 plus your Mech Reflexes. That's your Reflexes modified by your Maneuver Value. This determines who goes when in the round.

    ENEMY PROFILE: ZK-06E Gaki II: These Humanoid Frames are light and easy to destroy, but they're inexpensive and their massive shoulder-mounted shields can make them very hard to harm. They pack some moderate firepower in their bazookas, and they carry axes that use the heat from their heat sinks to cut through armor easily. Only dangerous in large groups or if you get careless.

    TUTORIAL: Modifying your Reflexes by your Maneuver Value: You just subtract it. Also with the basic ID System the Brilliant is -2.

    Jacob's mech was also somewhat of an extension of his own body. He was able to make rudimentary gestures, though he wasn't able to move it around fully like a human would. The head of the mech turned to the Zakus. "Oh look, cannon fodder."

    TUTORIAL: Hurting people: When you make an attack, you roll 1d10, then add your Mech Reflexes (note that you will always use Mech Reflexes in place of regular reflexes when in a mech), along with the related mech skill (in this case, Mecha Melee), then add any other bonuses or penalties. For instance, Lee's beam swords are +1 to hit.

    Tutorial: Not being hurt: There are two ways to not get hurt in Mekton, evading and parrying. Evasion is 1d10 plus Mecha Reflexes plus Piloting. If you fail that, you may then Parry. Parrying is 1d10 plus Mech Reflexes, plus Mecha Melee, plus any penalties or bonuses provided by the item you're using to parry. Melee weapons can only parry melee weapons, but shields can parry anything that can be parried. Every time you parry an attack, the item used to parry has its Kills/Stopping Power reduced by one, and will break at 0 (unless it's an energy weapon/shield, where instead, if the attack does more damage than the item used to parry, the attack will go through unhindered). Successful evasion or parrying means that no damage is taken at all.

    Kyoko guns her motorcycle at top speed over oddly-placed ramps, cutting various cars off and generally doing everything you've come to expect of her when she's on her bike. You should be at the hill in a couple minutes.
